Warmachine KRAKEN of Cryx

Hi there folks :)

Its a bit since i have posted something. Private things had grabbed some time and the flu also catched me ;)

So here the latest and finished project on comission. The Warmachine KRAKEN from CRYX Chapter.
A model as huge as a mans fist with loads of extra bits and things. Those long creepy arms, the small crabby like legs. A real mechanicle creature from the deep seas.
The first idea was much simpler as it turned out in the end. It first was planned as a big dark thing with lumi effects only on the arms and weapons. The second thought was "hey, thats a beast, it has to look like a beast and it must have patterns from a real living creature" and so i searched the Web for inspiration and found THIS:

Imperial Knight Warden - Battle shaped

Hello Dear Friends

The last month was very silent round about our Studio. That was cause we had some pretty much cool Things on the workbench and now in November you will see all the goodness and we hope you like it :)

The beginning of that journey is THE IMPERIAL KNIGHT WARDEN.

Warmachine - Cryx - Pirates of the Carabian ^^

Hello :)

After a few weeks of silence here on our blog its time to show you what we have done in the last couples of weeks.

We have a customer project of a Warmachine Cryx army in a very very extreme color Style you will see in the next couple of days.
We have rust, we have rotten things, we have a magical green glowing and a very dark dried rotten erthy grey basing. So all in all a very destructed Theme in this army of the CRYX.

The first here we show the Pirates with cannon and a Chieftain they are called Revenants.

The miniatures from Privateer Press are very nice detailed but sometimes a bit ugly casted what is in general no problem but here and there it makes it difficult to do exact lines and clear seperations of parts. Especially on parts that have to be glued its sometomes hard to stay with the plugs. But allthose lil issues are overtaken by the great ideas behind the miniatures and the living posing and very high detail :)

So these Revenants as they are real Dead Pirates got a very rotten look. The clothes very mostly made in dark colors but we also have the typical colorfull parts in red, blue and green but as said all very rotten ;) All weapons are rusted, all metal parts too and also the "gold" parts are more like old bronze. All flesh is generally rotten flesh with some brown/redbrown deeplining to give it a bit contrast.

So here we go with the pictures :)
enjoy

Hallo :)

Viel Spass

Captain

Mierce Miniatures

Hallo!

Hello! Again, I've completed a few figures. This time again some figures of the manufacturer Mierce from the Darklands series "The bows of Carn Dinas". I'm very much in their color scheme. A very difficult task, because the assembly was rather unusual difficult for this company. Some arms might not match really, failcasts, gaps and errors without endSo I had so repair a arm and model it with Milliput, and fill the huge chasms. The snow was mixed with baking soda and wood glue and throwed it with a toothpick on the base. Be welcome on my page here on CMON a Vote or comment i would appreciate

sáthach, ríonfénnid on foot".

Another Mierce miniature which I like very much. She has the beautiful unpronounceable name"sáthach, ríonfénnid on foot ". The assembly was also very difficult as with the 5 other figures. The worst part were the 2 swords which had completely failed casted. If you take a look on the guard of the swords you will see what i mean, i could not fix this.  Thank you for this job this has again made me a little bit better. The challenge was to paint a darker skin colour. Something i had never done so I tried it. I mixed with with "Basic skin" (Scale 75) and "Scorched Brown ( gw) a very dark skin tone as my midrange, the highlights were screaming skull (gw) + midrange and then with pure screaming skull. In the shadows I have a little arabian shadow (scale75) mixed in. The whole skin tone gives a very nice Indian skintone. Skin painting for me is always something very exciting since my journey never ends and there is much room for maneuver open to experimentation. With the cape I am very satisfied, I rarely have the opportunity to practice myself in freehands. I wanted a contrast to create the fierce, heavily armed soldier look. Thus I painted her a rose emblem that let her now look much more feminine. About a vote here and here in my CMON page, as well as a comment, I'd be very happy. regards Jürgen

Necrons

Hello Friends

First of all a very warm welcome to the "New Jay's Wargame Painting Blog" and a happy 2015 :) As you can see a few things have changed but for that check the Newsflash Post comming soon.

So here we are with the first finished Project of the Year. Just 4 Charakters left that will be finished in 2 days and get an extra post in few days.

So this is the first Necron Army i have painted and i loved it. The former Plan for that army was a black blue colorsheme with lightning effekts but this changed during the work in progress. Why it changed is easy. Wehad some older miniatures that have been "painted" with Revell Oil colors and that very thick. So it was impossible to strip them from that paint as it were plastic miniatures. Another plan for the painting took part and i decided together with my customer, that we do a very used and rusty rotten look for these guys and then for the whole army.

All was primered softly black with the Airbrush and after drying it got a second primer with MIG Rust Primer. After drying some different rust colors were added particulary with the airbrush. Over that all became a layer of Scratching medium from MIG AMMO.
The next step was a dark metallic blue completely over all miniatures followed by a soft OSL highlight with a bluemetallic from SCALE 75.
The all was scratched with different harder brushes to get scratches and completely rusted areas. The all was sealed with satin varnish.
Several washes from MIG AMMO were used and all models were washed with light rust wash, track rust wash and a bit black wash to darken the whole thing, the griming with different MIG AMMO, followed by another seal with satin varnish. A few Rust pigments were added followed again by a sealing.

Detailwork with different Gold and other metal colors were added.

Finally the Glowing Effects were made with Blue Pigments from FORGED MONKEY followed by White Pigments from PK-PRO both done only with Airbrush.

Last Step was the basing with Wallstones and Rubble from JUWEELA and other Basing Sands. Stones and Gravel were panted with MIG AMMO products, rest was drybrushed. The final step was the Snow. A very tricky thing as i wanted the snow not UPSIDE the stones but BETWEEN for the effect of lighly blowen snow. For that you will see atutorial soon her on JWP :)

So here are a few pics, sadly not in the quality i wanted as my camera is going to die :/ but i hope you like them.

Taking Part in the "Portal Paint off'"

Serwus!

Hi there!

I was asked by Adam Parkhouse (Portal Magazine) if I want to take part in "Portal Paint off". A competition of a different kind, as tasks must be performed weekly. A round runs for 3 weeks. First  week "Basing", second week "Technical" "metallics" third week "finished Mini". Then the "jury" is required because one of the participants flies out at the end of each round. Here I have my almost-finished base built, including a reference sample with a figure of "Figone". ......
