Bolt Action - Winter Germans I

Hello my dear followers & friends

With this post a long series of Bolt Action the WW2 tabletop Game from Warlord Game starts.
The first miniatures i show here are from Heer46 run by Denis Schumacher, a small Series but highest Quality in White Metal. All the Miniatures a full of great Detail and everything is well researched to make it historically as correct as possible.

So here we have 2 Officers and a Medium Mortar with Crew. I want my Army different than so many other German Winter Armys and so i did parts of the Uniform in Autumn Eichenlaub Sheme combined with white and the classical Field Grey.
To make the Eichenlaub sheme i used only 4 Colours. I started a basecoat in German Camo Brown. Then made areas with German Black Brown Camo using toothsticks to do the dotts all over. After that also with a toothstick i "dotted" the Orange Brown Camo. After that all was dried well i gave the whole uniform part a thinned layer of Strong Tone wash ( 50 / 50 mix Color to Acrylic thinner ) and so these Areas were finished. Of Course you can add more layers to make it darker and redo the dots then on some areas but as it is for gaming i think its very good enough to pop out of other Winter armys. The Rest is classically painted in all those German Late war Colors from the Vallejo Panzer Aces and Model Color Range.
For the White i used 3 different White tones and a highly thinned Wash with grey and Sepia. ( There will come a Tutorial for painting White soon )
To clear this up a bit i am a big fan of Washes and Shades to generate depth in an very easy way when i do my Tabletop Standard. Very often i mix them by myself with several add ons like Glace Medium and Acrylic Thinners.
The Base is not a typical Bolt Action Base as they are to flat for my personal use as i always pinning my miniatures to the Base and paint the miniatures on a cork and build the Bases seperate as it looks simply more realistic when a miniature steps ON a surface instead of standing IN and Under a surface.
For the Base i used first a layer ( 2-3mm ) of a sandy Paste from Vallejo but you can use any other Brand or make it yourself just mixing Sand and PVA Glue and some house paint. The "Theme" here on these bases is a Wood Ground with fresch fallen Snow. My Woodfloor mix is

Painting Competition from Warlord

Competition: Hansa Nairoba Painting Challenge

Taking a momentary break from playtesting Beyond the Gates of Antares, his forthcoming science-fiction game, Rick Priestley came up with a great idea: the Hansa Nairoba Painting Challenge. Rick explains:
Below you can see our Hansa model – Hansa Nairoba painted by Golem Painting Studio. I plan to tell you a bit more about our Hansa Nairoba character soon, and it would be great if we could feature more models painted by you – doesn’t matter what style – it’d be really interesting to see how many different interpretations we can come up with. I have my own Hansa – my paint jobs can’t really compete with ace painters like our own André Amián or Golem Painting Studio  – and it would interesting to see just how many interpretations we can come up with.
So – if you have a photo of your painted Hansa that you would be willing to share please post pics of your creation on our forums here. I’ll sort through and pick out a varied selection to show – and we’ll get the Warlord guys to pick out a favourite too. If we pick your model as our favourite we’ll include it in our beta rulebook as well.

Warlord Games wird teurer / Warlord Games increases Prices

Our aim as wargamers is to keep our prices as low as we can to make our hobby as accessible as possible. However, due to rising costs, we need to make an increase to some of our prices across different area of our range.
The new prices come in to effect from the 25th January 2013. We have delayed it as long as possible so not to have an impact on your Christmas purchases and our aim here is to give you all notice in case there is anything you wish to purchase over the next week at the current prices.
There will be nominal price increases on the following product:
  • Our metal Bolt Action boxed sets.
  • Some Resin Vehicles.
  • Bolt Action single figure Reinforcements.
  • Bolt Action two figure weapon teams.
  • A selection of items found in the armoury section e.g. shields and caps.
  • Following feedback from you we are repackaging our Bolt Action Orders Dice into packs of 12 rather than 10. The new price will be £10, but only once current stock of the 10-packs have sold out.
We are also temporarily retiring the Bolt Action platoon deals. We feel they do not fit in with Bolt Action force selection but we expect them to return before long with rules for fielding more vehicles in your games of Bolt Action.
If, in the meantime, you wish to buy 3 or more of the same vehicles just drop us an email to info@warlordgames.com and we’ll make sure you get your eager hands on them!
