A Daily Workbench - Monday 27.04.2015

Hello friends :)


Today we start a new section here on our Blog. A Daily Workbench is dedicated to a permanent update for you all. The idea behind is that every day i show with some pictures and some talking what happened the day in our paintstudio. Always with a day later if you wonder as i only have the evenings to post on the blog.
We hope with this steady flow of pictures and informations we are closer to you and you have a closer look in our business and daily work.
Tom is actually working on some Bolt Action Miniatures. 60 british Parashooters in Standard Level.
Jürgen already works on another five single Miniatures for Skirmish Games in Middle Level and a hero in High level.

So we hope you enjoy this series and find something interesting for you.

On the first picture you see what happened yesterday.
It was a day full of assembling, cleaning and finally primering. From left to right we have some Space Marines, a complete Space Hulk Set, High Elves and three Character Models from Warmashine for the actually in progress CRYX Army.

Heute starten wir eine neue Sektion auf unserem Blog. A Daily Workbench ist eine tägliches Update was bei uns so passiert. Die Idee dahinter ist, Euch jeden Tag mit aktuellen Bildern und Beschreibung zu versorgen was am Vortag so alles passiert ist in unserem Studio.
Wir hoffen mit diesem stetigen Fluss an Bildern und Informationen euch unsere Arbeit näher bringen zu können sodass ihr einen besseren Einblick in unser tägliches Tun bekommt.

Tom arbeitet zur Zeit an einer Charge Bolt Action Miniaturen. Britische Fallschirmjäger in der Standard Stufe
Jürgen arbeitet erneut an EInzel Miniaturen für Skirmish Spiele. Alles in Mittlerer Stufe und ein Held in Hoher Stufe

Nun auf dem ersten Bild oben seht Ihr die komplette Werkbank von Gestern. Jede Menge Entgraten, Zusammenbau und Grundieren. Von Links nach rechts ein paar Space MArines, dann Space Hulk, Hochelfen und drei Charaktermodelle von Warmashine für die aktuell in Arbeit befindliche Cryx Armee.

CMON Deamon Prince

Hello :-)

Another piece for the deamons army is finished.
Its a Deamonprince from Cool Mini or Not manufacturer and i can say its one of the best miniatures i ever had in my hands so far. The details are a lot and very fine casted, nearly no moldlines or bubbles etc. Just close to perfect ;)

The colorsheme is not dedicated to any of the greater Chaos Gods so my customer can play it in any way based on the neutral color sheme...we have red for the open muscles, we have some purple for Slanesh and some rotten green for nurgle but no blue as it wouldnt have matched on this model.
The gold is painted in several layers and i tried a bit OSL from the right side to the left. The skin was made only with Airbrush also the wings.
The complete model was painted only with SCALECOLOR with Airbrush and brush.

I think we have a nice centerpiece here for this army. I really love this model and he has a brother wich is already on the workbensh ;)

So enough talking.

Howdy

Ein weiters Model für die Dämonen Armee ist fertig.
Es ist ein Dämonenprinz aus der Werkstatt von Cool Mini or Not und ich muss sagen es ist eines der besten Modelle die ich bis jetzt in den Händen halten konnte. Jede Menge Details und im Grunde keinerlei Gußgrate oder Blasen etc. also nahezu perfekt.

Das Farbschema ist relativ neutral gehalten und keiner bestimmten Gottheit zugeordnet damit man diesen Prinzen überall einsetzen kann. Wir haben das Lila für Slanesh, die roten offenen Muskeln für Khorne und auch ein rottendes Grün für Nürgle ist zu finden. Auf Blau habe ich komplett verzichtet da es nicht gepasst hätte.
Das Gold wurde in etlichen Schichten aufgetragen und etwas OSL von oben rechts adaptiert. DIe Haut und die Flügel wurden ausschließlich mit der Airbrush gearbeitet.
Bei diesem Modell habe ich ausschließlich Farben der Firma Scale Color verwendet, per Airbrush und Pinsel.

Ich denke wir haben hier einen schönen Hingucker in der Armee und sein Bruder steht auch schon auf der Werkbank ;)

High Elve Brotherhood of Averlon

Hi :)


It was quit for a while with the High Elves Project and the second half of the 400 Miniatures Army in this customer project.

So here I show you a small special inbetween this army. There is a squad called the Sisterhood of Averlon, wich is totally female elite squad. My customer wanted that unit but he didnt liked the original Games Workshop Miniatures for that squad and wanted to be more special and male. So we created the Brotherhood of Averlon. As there were no male models available for this we decided together to do them out of an wood elve warrior box. They still should match to the general Army color sheme and also had the idea of "stealth" warriors waiting in the back and secret to push forward in the right moment.
Some mystik idea behind i started to assemble those Minis and first wanted to create pure thrushining robes made of pure Ice. Testing this opportunity i found out it wouldnt work with the several techniques for frozen water, glacing and Icing i normally use.
So i decided to paint the cloaks frosted and add snow as the stealth thing.
Al colors were choosen to give it a very very ice and cold look. To make them match more to high elves than Wood elves i painted parts in metal colors to create the effect of "moving" thin metal armor.

We have 15 of these nice Miniatures here, some with double blades looking a bit like an assasin :) All others have the typical bow that was painted in frozen cold high blue metal color combined with white and gold.

So here is what came out :)

Es war eine Weile still still rund um das große Hochelfen Project und der zweiten Hälfte dieser 400 Miniaturen großen Armee.

Hier nun ein kleines Special dieser Armee. Es gibt eine Einheit die sich Die Schwesternschaft von Averlon nennt. Eine Elite Einheit die ausschließlich aus weiblichen Miniaturen besteht. Mein Kunde mag jedoch die Originalmodelle nicht und so entstand die Idee die Bruderschaft von Averlon zu kreieren, bestehend aus vorwiegend männlichen Modellen. Da es jedoch dafür keine fertigen Modelle gibt haben wir entschieden diese aus der Waldelfenkrieger Box selbst zu bauen.
Sie sollten weiterhin dem generellen Farbschema der Armee entsprechen und ich hatte die Idee sie als "getarnte" im Hintergrund lauernde Modelle darzustellen die im entscheidenden Moment ihr Versteck verlassen und über den Feind herfallen.
Auch einem etwas mystischen Hintergrund folgend begann ich die Modelle zusammen zu bauen. Die Roben sollten ursprünglich aus purem Eis bestehen was mich an die Grenzen des möglichen brachte und verworfen werden musste. Ich testete etliche Techniken um durchscheinendes Eis in der Form eines Umhanges zu machen, scheiterte jedoch egal welche Technik ich versuchte. ( ich denke abgießen mit durchsichtigem Resin wäre noch einen Möglichkeit gewesen die ich jedoch nicht ausprobiert habe )
Also benuzte ich den original Umhang und bemalte ihn in extrem kalten Farbtönen und gab ihm eine Art Tarnmuster aus Schnee.
Alles wurde in sehr kalten Farben bemalt und eine Art fließendes Metall gemalt um sie mehr an Hochelfen denn an Waldelfen aussehen zu lassen, quasi eine Arte Quecksilberartige Rüstung.

Hier nun was dabei raus gekommen ist :)

Mierce Miniatures for Skirmish Dungeon Game

Hi Ho! I again asked a lot done. Namely, it is time to miniatures of the manufacturer Mierce. I must say that the casting quality is a hammer. It did not take much groundwork to begin assembly. The only thing I noticed was the 2 figures were extra filigree and left me in despair. These were the 2 figures with the beard and the sword.
The desire was to have a very nordic look and I use the cobblestones of Juveela. The green look I liked at first attempt well so I decided to take rather warmer contrast colours on the figures. Some work still very cool. On the rest of the Miniatures i was on happy painting and let it flow. ;) I apologize in advance for the quality of the photos, I hope I will soon buy me a better camera. About any criticism , tips and comments , I'd be happy right.

Ich hab wieder einiges fertig gestellt.
Und zwar handelt es sich diesmal um Miniaturen der Herstellerfirma Mierce. Ich muss sagen, dass die Gußqualität ein Hammer ist. Es brauchte nicht viel Vorarbeit um mit dem Zusammenbau zu beginnen. Das einzige das mir aufgefallen ist war das 2 Figuren extra filligran waren und mich verzweifeln ließen. Das waren die 2 Figuren mit dem Vollbart und dem Schwert.
Der Wunsch war sie sehr nordisch aussehen zu lassen und das ich die Pflastersteine von Juveela verwende. Der grüne Look gefiel mir auf anhieb gut also entschied ich mich als Kontrast eher wärmere Farben bei den Figuren zu verwenden. Manche wirken trotzdem sehr kühl. Beim Rest hatte ich freie Hand.
Hatte vie Spaß dabei und hatte den Malflow ;) Ich entschuldige mich vorab schonmal für die Qualität der Fotos, ich hoffe ich bekomm dann demnächst mal eine bessere Kamera. Über jegliche Kritik, Tips und Kommentare würd ich mich recht freuen.

Dwarfes

Hello my Friends :)



A few days have past since the last post here. So we have something really colorfull on start here.

It was a Long Long way to finish this Batlleforce of Dwarfes. Not as they were to much and highest Paintlevel, but some Long range issues with a painter i trusted in to work for me and paint some of those squads. As they came back to us we thought everything is okay without checking it. Some weeks later we saw that it was not the Quality we want and so i painted the most again. First Stripping the Colors and then start from the beginning. So a double work process on those miniatures.
Finally my Partner Jürgen helped me out a bit in the last few weeks to get this Project finished.But as i always say...you only can grow on your mistakes and now we have already an army that looks pretty well on the table.

Most of the Miniatures are painted in our new Standard Level. Just a few are painted in Middle Level like the Anvil Mini Dio.

We have 2 Main Colors here representing Kazak a Kharak Dwarfes with a green and blue main Theme . A dark red was added too as first secondary Color and we decided that the leather parts schould be dark.

The Basing was a very simple thing as the customer wanted us to do. So we have a Brown main Color drybrushed a bit and then mainly green gras on it thats all.
All Units are magnetised to the regimental bases which were made extra. Also we decided to do the war mashines on some lil representing bases.

All in all i think thats a fine Army here right now :)

Es ist ein paar Tage her seid wir etwas gepostet haben doch nun haben wir etwas schön buntes für Euch :)

Soulgrinders / Seelenzermalmer

And another big boom of the Warhammer 40.000 Deamons is finished.
We have two Soulgrinders here. One for the Bloodgod and another one for the great God of Tzeentsh.

The Soulgrinder of Khorne has this heavy sword. I decided it would be cool to paint it as a bone sword as Khorne collects Skulls and bones.
All Red parts on the Deamon itself were layered from a deep dark brownred up to the typical blood red tones with some final highlights with red orange. All Metal parts were first painted in german Tank grey, then drybrushed with Scale Colors Black Metal and another layer with Heavy Metal. After that a first Wash from Mig Ammo - Track Wash was added, followed by light Rust wash and finished with a very thinned layer of Track wash again. So we get that really used look on all Metal parts.
The "Shields" on the legs got some weathering too with scratched parts and washed same way as the Metal parts.
The gold is also the Alchemy Color Series from Scale 75 and had a finished wash with very thinned White Spirit - Track wash to get it a bit dirty.

The Soulgrinder of Tzeentsh has not the sword but the claw as weapon. This one also was painted in bone tones for a better match for those two biggies.
The same weathering as on the Khorne one took part. The main colors are more purple and lilaq. Gold tones are also made in the same way as before on the Khorne guy.

The upper Deamon Bodys are removable for easier transport.

Finally i gave them a self casted base for a better stability on the table.

Und noch ein großes Boom der Warhammer 40.000 Dämonen ist beendet .
Wir haben zwei Soulgrinder hier. Einen für den Blutgott Khorne und einen weiteren für den großen Gott Tzeentsh.

Der Seelenzermalmer des Khorne bekam das große Schwert, das ich in Knochenfarben bemalte um es ein bischen mehr nacht Schädelsammeln aussehen zu lassen wie es Khorne eben gebührt.
Auf dem Körper des Dämons wurde das rot von einem dunklen Braunrot bis hoch ins klassische Blutrot gehighlighted und am Ende teilweise noch mit Rot Orange an bestimmten Stellen hervorgehoben. Alle Metallteile wurden zuerst mit Panzer Grau bemalt und anschließend erst mit Scalecolor Black Metal und anschließend mit Scalecolor Heavy Metal vorsichtig gebürstet. Anschließend kam eine erste Schicht Track Wash von MIG Ammo darüber, gefolgt von einer verdünnten Schicht Light Rust von MIG und einem abschließenden Wash aus White Spirit mit Track wash, was dem ganzen diesen sehr gebrauchten Look gibt.
Die Schützer an den Beinen wurden erst in Rostfarben bemalt und dann mit Chipping Medium von MIG bearbeitet. Danach Rot ebenso lila bei Tzeentsh bemalt und gescratched. Anscließend wurde wieder entsprechend gewasht wie oben beschrieben.
Das Gold ist aus der Alchemy Serie von Scale Color und wurde in 3 Schichten gehighlighted und anschließend mit stark verdünnter Track Wash lasiert um auch hier einen gewissen USED LOOK zu erzielen.

Der Seelenzermalmer des Tzeentsh bekam statt des Schwertes die Klaue. Um einen Zusammenhang zu bilden wurde auch diese in Knochenfarbe gehalten.
Das Lila und Violet auf dem Dämon wurde von ganz dunklem Midnightblue bis hoch zu Game Air Alien Purple gehighlighted, unterbrochen durch Teile in Warlord Purple. Alles wurde lasiert und ergibt somit diesen bunten Ton.
Metall, weathering und Gold wurden im gleichen Verfahren wie beim Khorne Modell gemacht, nur wurde an einigen Stellen mehr Light Rust Wash verwendet.

Die Dämonenkörper sind zwecks Transport abnehmbar.
Beide bekamen noch ein selbst gegossenes Base um sie am Spieltisch stabiler zu machen

KHORNE

Horrors of Tzentsch / Horrors des Tzentsch

Hello again :)

Today is the big show off day from last couples of weeks work on the Warhammer 40.000 Deamons Army.
So we have the Nurgle Boss from Kromlech, the Plague Drones, the horrors and another unit later that evening to be showen :D

So here with the 40 ( yess FOURTY ) horrors i went crazy with the airbrush. They were primered black and white as always. Then a very dark pink was added as basic color. Abter that i layered several softer pink tones from above for a small OSL light...above light, from down upwards dark. After these pink airbrushing all got a wash with a mixture from red and violet very thinned down. This was layerd 3 times very thin. After drying i took a dark violetblue and started to airbrush the blue sections and lighted them with 2 layers of softer blue tones.
After this Airbrush work, the normal brushwork started. every Metal part was painted in a greengold with one higlight layer, finally washed with track rust from MIG AMMO. The tongue was painted just with a heavy wash of violet. The teeth were simply painted bone white and the washed with Dark Brown Africa Corps Wash from MIG AMMO witch gives it a very rotten look. The horns were simply painted with a shiny black.
The last step was to add crazy luminosity pigments. We have a Neon Orange for the Eyes, a Neon Pink for all Gemstones and some Blue for the magic Flames.
And so i call them finished :)

HAllo nochmal :)

Heute ist der große Show Off Tag der Arbeiten an der Warhammer 40.000 Dämonenarmee der letzten paar Wochen. Wir haben den Nurgle Chef von Kromlech, die Seuchendrohnen, Horrors, und heute abend kommt noch eine weitere Einheit auf den Blog :D

Bei den 40 (ja VIERZIG ) Horrors hier habe ich mich mal mit der Airbrush ausgetobt. Zuerst wurdevallesvSchwarz, dann Weiß grundiert. Darüber kam eine dünne Schicht in dunklem Pink, gefolgt von mehreren Schichten in eicheren Rosa Tönen von oben um ein bissl eine Lichtquelle ( OSL ) zu erzielen. Nach dem Trocknen bekamm die Mini eine Lasur aus einem Mix aus rot und violet, sehr stark verdünnt. Diese wurde drei mal aufgetragen und so erzielen wir den Efeckt das oben alles hell und unten alles dunkel ist.
Danach wurde mit der Airbrush zuerst ein Blauviolet aufgesprüht, gefolgt von 2 Schichten softerem Blau. Damit waren die Airbrusharbeiten abgeschlossen und weiter ging es mit dem Pinsel.
Zuerst wurde alle Metallteile in einem Grüngold plus Highlight von SCALE 75 bemalt, das anschließend mit Ttrack Wash von MIG AMMO lasiert wurde. Die Zunge wurde in einer einzigen Schicht aus starker vieoletter Wasch bemalt ( durch das airbrushen hatte sie sowiesoschon etliche Farbverläufe. Die Zähne wurden mit Knochenweiß bemalt und anschließend mit Africa Korps Dark Brown Wash von MIG AMMO gewasht was ihnen diesen verrotteten Look gibt. Die Hörner wurden in einem glänzenden Schwarz bemalt.
Abschließen habe ich mit verrückten Leuchtpigmenten rumgespielt. Die Augen sind NEon Orange, die ganzen Kristalle Neon Pink und die magischen Flammen in knalligem Neon Blau.
Somit sind diese nun fertig :)

Plague Drones / Seuchendrohnen

Hello :)

And the next parts of the deamon army is going to be finished soon.

Here we have the Plague Drones finished but but without the riders and the final bases, they will be added in a few days.

The drones got the same colors as the Kromlech lord, so again, green, brown, ochre and violet and finally blood.
I thought it would be cool to have some glitter wings like a dragonfly in the sun but the rest already rotted and infected with the plague of nurgle. For that i airbrushed them in several metallics from SCALE 75 and gev them a very very soft violet wash.
Me likes the combination of the rotten and the glitter alot as it is a bit crazy to have 2 different ideas combined in one miniature.
I also want to add some slime with the glue from UHU method :D but just when the rest is finished

Hallo :)

Und der nächste Teil der Dämonenarmee ist fast fertig.

Diesmal die Seuchendrohnen die schon fertig sind, aber noch ohne Reiter und finalem Base. Das kommt in den nächsten Tagen.

Auch bei den Drohnen habe ich wieder die gleiche Farbpalette benuzt wie beim KROMLECH Charakter; also grün, hellbraun, ocker, lila und blut.
Bei den Flügel habe ich mir gedacht es wäre cool wenn sie wie bei einer Libelle schillern würden wenn sie durch die Sonne fliegt und gleichzeitig als Kontrast der verrottete Körper der von Nurgle infiziert ist und die Seuche in sich trägt. Für die Flügel benuzte ich also verschieden Metallicfarben von SCALE 75, die ich anschließend ganz vorsichtig mit lila lasierte.
Mir geällt diese Kombination und der Kontrast zwischen den Flügeln und dem Pestlook des restlichen Modells sehr gut, da es irgendwie zu CHaos passt und etwas verrückt ist.
Am Ende werde ich noch ein paar Uhu Schleimfäden an die Miniatur bringen.

Big Nurgle Deamon from Kromlech

So here we go on with the Deamon Army for Warhammer 40.000

This Modelis from KROMLECH. A very cool and extremely well casted Miniature in Resin. There have been just a few small moldlines and everything matched well during the assembling.
It was massive fun to paint that guy as it has loads of details. I used the typical Nurgle Colorshemes of the green, ochre and violet paint range. The bloody effects were first painted in several red tones and finished with the "Blood for the Bloodgod" Effects Color from Games Workshop that gives that wet and fresh blood look. I also used several weathering technics for the metal parts. Several rusty pigments were added and also washes from MIG AMMO.
The Goldgreen colors are from SCALE75 from the Alchemy Gold color set. They are awesome colors for such "old and used" effects.

The Base is not really finished i guess but very close to. I will wash it a bit to warm down the very light Dust pigments i used.

Weiter geht es mit der Warhammer 40.000 Dämonenarmee.

Dieses Modell ist von KROMLECH. Eine wirklich coole und gut gegossene Mini in Resin. Nur wenige Gußgrate waren zu reinigen und die Passform ist sehr gut.
Ich hatte großen Spass diese Mini zu bemalen da sie jede Menge Details aufweist. Ich benuzte die typische Nurgle Farbpalette aus Grün, Ocker, Lila. Die Bluteffecte wurden zuerest in mehreren Rottönen gemalt und anschließend mit der "Blood for the Bloodgod" Effecktfarbe von Games Workshop gefinished, was dem Ganzen diesen frischen, nassen Bluteffeckt gibt.
Ebenso kam jede Menge Weathering auf allen Metallteilen zum Einsatz. Hier benuzte ich wieder die verschiedenen Rostpigmente und washes von MIG AMMO.
Das Grüngold wurde mit SCALE75 Farben gemalt die mit ihrem Gold Alchemy Farbset genau die richtigen Farben für solch pattiniertes altes und gebrauchtes Gold liefern.

Das BAse ist im Grund fertig aber ich bin noch nicht 100%ig zufrieden und werde es nochmal "wärmer" tuschen um dem STaub Pigmenten etwas die Stärke zu nehmen.

2nd Round of Portal Paint Off / 2te Runde Portal Paint Off

War! War never changes!

Howdy!
Another round of "Portal paint off" hopefully over. 
At least I again asked something done. In the 2nd round it came to build a post-apocalyptic base. To use a Weathering art and to provide all subsequently completed. I chose the medium of Chipping Vallejo, since I have already gained some experience with this. So all my bits were compiled and built it.  
The figure is from "Brother Vinni" and is very similar to the figures from the Fallout universe. Who knows the Pc game, facing what I mean.

Wieder eine Runde vom "Portal paint off" hoffentlich überstanden.
Zumindest habe ich wieder etwas fertig gestellt. In der 2. Runde ging es darum ein postapokalyptisches Base zu bauen. Eine Weathering Technik zu verwenden und das ganze anschliessend fertig zu stellen. Ich entschied mich für das Chipping Medium von Vallejo, da ich mit diesem schon einige Erfahrung gesammelt habe. Also wurden alle meine Bits zusammengetragen und drauf los gebaut.
Die Figur ist von "Brother Vinni" und ähnelt sehr den Figuren aus dem Fallout Universum. Wer das Pc- Spiel kennt, weis wovon ich spreche.
